Ali Carter will be favourite to win the 2010 Shanghai Masters against Jamie Burnett but the Glasgow player is not to be underestimated after an impressive journey to the final including a 6-1 win in the semi final against World Ranking 15th Jamie Cope.
Jamie Burnett is the 4th rank outsider to reach the final of the Shanghai Masters and follows Dominic Dale in 2007, Ricky Walden in 2008 and Liang Wenbo in 2009. Both Dale and Walden became Shanghai Masters champions but Liang Wenbo finished runner up.
Ali Carter has been the only seeded player in the competition since Neil Robertson was knocked out in the first round. Ronnie O’Sullivan withdrawing from the event is the biggest shock but there have been plenty of unexpected results and the format used has helped provide some unpredictability to the competition. Despite Jamie Burnett having a little luck getting a bye to the second round Ali Carter will be wary as he dispatched two of his three opponents en route to the final with ease. See below for more information about each players journey to the Shanghai Masters final.
