John Higgins World Snooker Championship Quarter Final

John Higgins bounced back from a shaky start to the 2011 World Snooker Championship with a 13-10 win against Ronnie O’Sullivan in the quarter finals.

The World number wasn’t favourite to win the match after poor performance in the second round against Rory McLeod. When Ronnie O’Sullivan took an early lead at 7-4 it looked like the Scots tournament might be over. But Higgins got himself back into the match winning the last three frames of the session and leveling the score at 8 frames a piece.

In the second sessions Higgins edged into the lead 9-8 but O’Sullivan replied with a century break of 116 to make it all square. Higgins won another three frames on the trot to regain the advantage and get just one frame away from victory at 12-9. O’Sullivan attempted a fight back, reducing the deficit by a frame with the help of a 94 break but a little bit of good fortune in the 23rd frame gave Higgins the advantage and the win.

John Higins will play Mark Williams in the World Snooker Championship semi final.
