John Higgins will play Judd Trump in the 2011 World Snooker Championship at the Crucuible Theatre in Sheffield today.

The 35 frame final looks set to be a classic with Judd Trump’s flamboyant, exhibition form and John Higgins gritty, match winning style that helped beat a sensational Mark Williams in the semi finals.

The three time world champion had to battle to victory to win 17-14 after a opening couple of sessions that could’ve seen him 11 frames to 4. It’s only through John Higgins granite like match play and ability to grind out results even on his B game that helped him prevent Mark Williams running away with the game and end the first day’s play at 9 frames to 7.

Judd Trump also had a very tough match to progress to the final. Ding Junhui was on fine form and at 15 frames all it looked like he might be able to reach his first World Snooker Championship final. But Trump managed to hold his nerve and produce a fabulous finish to one of the best World Snooker Championship semi finals.

  1. The final should be a great match, both competitors had to battle to get there. Usually experience wins out in close matches, but I would like to see trump win, I like seeing the underdog win. Either easy it should be a great match and whoever ends up being world champion will have earned it!

  2. I can see this final going down to the last frame. The winner will be the one willing to think on the positive. John Higgins when needing only one frame to win the Malta open lost to Ken Doherty. Judd is trumps for me.
