Ding Junhui outclassed Graeme Dott in their quarter final match in The Masters, winning the match 6-2. The Chinese player was on top form and produced three excellent century breaks in the first four frames.

Ding Junhui reminded snooker fans around the world what he’s capable of in the quarter final of The Masters against Graeme Dott with century breaks of 124, 108 and 124. Offered referred to as “The Chinese Sensation,” Ding Junhi hasn’t performed to the full extent of his talents over the last few years, perhaps because of the pressure of representing his fellow countrymen. His last ranking event victory was in 2009 in the UK Championship against John Higgins and he fell at the last hurdle in the 2010 China Open with a disappointing 10-6 loss against Mark Williams.

The Masters may not be a ranking event but it is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the snooker calendar and Ding Junhui has bounced back against the pressure to perform at his peak on the world stage. He cue ball control was faultless at times and it was though he had the ball on string.

Graeme Dott looked positive in the first few frames, playing uncharacteristically aggressive snooker and looking to build breaks as he did in his 6-4 victory over John Higgins. But punishing centuries by Ding Junhui from the slightest mistake knocked the stuffing out of Dott and more unforced errors started slipping into his game. In the end Dott’s highest break was a miserable 38 and the sum of his scores was a measley 235 while Ding Junhui had racked up 649. All credit to Ding Junhui though, he played some excellent snooker and should be a strong favourite to win the competition now.
