Despite Ronnie O’Sullivan’s decline in form and drop to 9th in the rankings he’s still widely considered the most exciting player in World Snooker. A lot of snooker fans will be disappointed that O’Sullivan v Allen has been drawn on an afternoon slot but it will still draw a devoted world-wide audience.
In the last World Snooker ranking event of 2010, the UK Championship, Ronnie O’Sullivan’s performance was very disappointing and he suffered at 9-6 defeat to 17th ranked Stuart Bingham in the first round. Mark Allen faired much better and progressed as far as the semi-final with wins against Tom Ford, Ding Junhui and Stuart Bingham before being knocked out by John Higgins who went on to win the competition.
Mark Allen’s 9-7 win against Stuart Bingham would suggest that he has the ability to beat Ronnie O’Sullivan but “The Rocket” is an unpredictable player and anything could happen.
