Shanghai Masters Semi Final Results

The results for the 2010 Shanghai Masters Semi finals are:

  • Jamie Burnett 6 – 1 Jamie Cope
  • Ali Carter 6 – 2 Mark Selby

Jamie Burnett v Jamie Cope

Jamie Burnett will be delighted to have made it to the final of the 2010 Shanghai Masters having had a bye to the second round after Ronnie O’Sullivan had to pull out of the competition due to personal problems. Seeded 36th in the tournament, Burnett’s Shanghai Masters semi-final match was his first ranking semi-final.

Jamie Cope, ranked 15th in the World was not on form and struggled to gain some kind of potting form making unforced errors throughout the match. He’ll be disappointed to have made such a poor account of himself in the semi-final of a ranking competition, especially losing 6 frames to 1. It was at 5-0 when Jamie Cope finally managed to get on the scoreboard but it was all over when Jamie Burnett clinched the following frame.

Ali Carter v Jamie Cope

Mark Selby began the Shanghai Masters as favourite to win the competition but Ali Carter came back from 2-0 down to win 6 in frames in a row and won the match 6 frames to 2. Ali Carter booked himself in the final against rank outsider Jamie Burnett and will be quietly confident of doing well having shown excellent form against Selby with precise safety play and solid break building. Carter has only won one ranking event previously, the World Open in 2009 despite being a regular fixture in the top 16.
