World Open Snooker Replaces The Snooker Grand Prix

The World Open Snooker Championship has been created to replace the Snooker Grand Prix. As well as being renamed, the tournament has also been reformated. The 2010 World Open will be the first World Snooker ranking event that is open to amateurs. To qualify and be entered into the World Open main draw amateurs have to win 2 matches.

World Snooker Open Format

Round 4

The draw for the 4th round is scheduled to take place on 19th September 2010. Matches from the draw will be played between 20th and 23rd September. The format will be best of 5 frames.

Round 5

The draw for 5th round is scheduled to take place on 22nd September. Matches are schedule to be played between 23rd and 24th September.

The format will be best of 5 frames.

Quarter-finals

The draw for quarter finals are scheduled to take place on 24th September. Matches will be played on the 25th September. The format will be best of 5 frames.

Semi-finals

The semi-finals draw is scheduled for the 25th September. Matches will be played the following day and the format will be best of 5 frames.

Final

The final will take place at 8 pm on 26 September 2010. The format will be best of 9 frames.

Taking place between the 16th and 26th of September 2010 the World Open Snooker Championship will be held at the S.E.C.C. in Glasgow, Scotland.
